Orthodontist Near Rumford, RI

Rumford sits in the northern part of East Providence, just across the Seekonk River from our office, which makes Providence Orthodontics one of the closest orthodontic practices to the neighborhood. We are at 151 Waterman Street, Suite #6 on Providence’s East Side — for most Rumford families, a short drive over the bridge.

Convenient Care Close To Home

Because orthodontic treatment means short visits every several weeks over a year or more, being nearby genuinely matters. Rumford patients can usually get to us, be seen, and get back without rearranging the day. Our hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and calling (401) 274-5024 is the fastest way to find a time that works around school or work.

What We Offer

Dr. Jessica Collins is a board-certified orthodontist who plans every case personally. Depending on what your exam shows, treatment may involve:

  • Braces — metal, tooth-colored ceramic, or WildSmiles brackets. See all our types of braces.
  • Clear alignersInvisalign for teens and adults who will wear them 20 to 22 hours a day.
  • Early evaluation and interceptive orthodontics — a first check-up by age 7, per the American Association of Orthodontists, with treatment only where growth gives us real leverage.
  • Retention — retainers and a plan you will actually follow, since relapse after childhood treatment is one of the most common reasons adults come back in.

The First Visit

Consultations are complimentary. We take a digital 3D scan with our iTero scanner instead of putty impressions, add CBCT imaging when root position or jaw structure matters, and Dr. Collins reviews the findings with you in plain terms — including when her recommendation is to monitor rather than treat. You can read what to expect on your first visit, and see our equipment on the orthodontic technology page.

If treatment is recommended, our team goes through payment options before anything begins: payment plans, assignment of your dental insurance orthodontic benefits, and a 5% courtesy when treatment is paid in full. Nothing about cost should be a surprise after the fact.

Who You Are Working With

Dr. Collins earned her DMD at Boston University, where she was admitted to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and completed her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington. She grew up in nearby Fairhaven, Massachusetts, and became interested in orthodontics watching her sister’s treatment and then going through her own — then spent six years working in her family orthodontist’s office before dental school. You can meet the rest of the Providence Orthodontics team before deciding, and our comfort and home care page covers the first weeks once treatment starts.

Questions From Rumford Patients

  • How close are you really? We are on Waterman Street on the East Side of Providence — for most Rumford addresses, a short drive across the river.
  • How often would we come in? Short adjustment visits every several weeks for braces, and less frequently for aligners.
  • Do you see adults as well as children? Yes, and adults are a significant share of our patients — often for teeth that crowded again after childhood treatment.
  • What are your hours? Tuesday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call (401) 274-5024.
  • Is the consultation really complimentary? Yes, including the exam and digital records.

What Treatment Actually Involves

Once a plan is set, orthodontics settles into a routine. Braces patients come in for short adjustments, brush after meals, floss daily, and avoid the hard and sticky foods that break brackets. Aligner patients switch to a new set on schedule and keep them in 20 to 22 hours a day. Both groups can expect mild tenderness for a few days after each change — our comfort and home care page covers what helps.

At the end of active treatment, retainers take over. This is where results are won or lost: the patients who need treatment twice are almost always the ones who stopped wearing retainers. We will set a realistic retention plan and be direct with you about how long “long-term” actually means.
