Meet Dr. Jessica Collins
Dr. Jessica Collins is a board-certified orthodontist at Providence Orthodontics, where she is proud to provide personalized, high-quality care. She is committed to creating healthy, confident smiles through thoughtful treatment planning and compassionate care.
A native of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Dr. Collins first became interested in orthodontics while watching her sister’s treatment and later experiencing her own. That early spark led her to a vocational high school dental assisting program, where she gained the skills that became the foundation for six years in her family orthodontist’s office—starting in the sterilization room and gradually learning assisting, lab, and front desk roles.
Dr. Collins earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at Boston University, where she developed a strong interest in research and mentoring. She was admitted to the Alpha Omega International Dental Society, a recognition of academic and professional excellence, and was awarded the Pre-doctoral Research Award in Oral Biology for her work on salivary enzymes as a potential treatment for celiac disease.
She went on to complete her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington in Seattle—widely regarded as one of the most competitive and prestigious orthodontic programs in the country. While there, she earned a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and published research on treatment approaches for anterior open bite.
Dr. Collins is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, a distinction that reflects her dedication to the highest standards of patient care. She is also an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the New England Society of Orthodontists, the Rhode Island Dental Association, and the Rhode Island Association of Orthodontists. In addition, she is a member of the Providence Study Club, where she was invited to present to local dentists and specialists on multidisciplinary treatment planning and the role of airway in orthodontics.
When she’s not creating smiles, Dr. Collins loves spending time with her family, especially her nephew, Mac. She can often be found reliving her younger “glory days” playing pickleball, softball, volleyball, or bowling—or winding down with a good book.
